For many years, Zhinong Xi has devoted himself to the photography and conservation of China's wildlife, actively promoting the use of images for the preservation of nature. He founded the Wild China Studio, the China Wildlife Photography Training Camp, the Cangshan Nature Center, and the Cangshan Nature Photography Museum. In 2010, he was acclaimed as one of the 40 most influential nature photographers worldwide by Outdoor Photography. In 2022, he was honored with the Wayfinder award from the National Geographic Society.

The documentary "Snow Leopards and Friends", directed by him, made its debut in 2023. This documentary revolves around snow leopards and narrates the transformation of three herdsmen into photographers and protectors of these magnificent creatures. It delves into their quest to track the snow leopards and the dedicated conservation work they've undertaken.
